Current Reality & District Gaps

Despite serving 78,000 students, FBISD lacks appropriate facilities with budget constraints leaving our students outpaced by neighboring districts.

• • Capacity and Access Constraints: For the 48% of FBISD students who are economically disadvantaged, current facilities fall short in supporting advanced engineering.
• • Infrastructure Shortages: While the James Reece CTE Center supports career education during school hours, FBISD lacks a workspace during after-school hours for full-scale robotics fields and teams preparing for state and global competitions.
• • Equipment Deficiencies: No campus within FBISD provides access to precision industrial machinery, forcing students to rely on primitive tools.
• • Resource and Budget Limitations: Schools lack the budget to adequately support robotics teams, and so community teams are forced to build and use hazardous practice areas.
• • Equity and Regional Gaps: Underfunded campuses with faltering booster clubs are blocked from participating in championship-level events, widening the equity gap.
